V-11: Guideline for the Installation of Valves into High Pressure Aluminum Alloy Cylinders

Abstract

Correct valve installation into aluminum alloy cylinders is essential to ensure a proper fit, performance, and leak-tight seal. Failure to perform this installation properly can result in the loss of the cylinder contents and/or the valve ejection from the cylinder, which can lead to damage to property, serious personal injury, and/or death.

This publication provides recommended guidelines for developing procedures for valve installation into high pressure aluminum alloy cylinders for thread designs developed in the United States. For guidance on devalving cylinders, see CGA P-38.
